Mama's Memories

Bryan "pup" Mullikin - Mama's Pup

Beloved American Leatherboy 2001, Bryan "Pup" Mullikin departed this life Thursday, March 13, 2003 at his home in Chicago. He was 33 years old. As we remember Bryan, let us think of all the good things he brought to each of us and our community. We should celebrate the good and not dwell on the details of his death.

Pup graced the Washington, DC leather community from 1999 until his May 2002 move to the Windy City. He had lived in New York and San Francisco prior to the Nation's Capital. He was no stranger to the Leather Community across the country, he will always be known for his warm smile and effervescent personality.

He proudly served as President of the DC Boys of Leather for two years. He worked hard to help boys' clubs across the country. It was his personal mission to impress upon the community the importance of respect for all individuals including his fellow boys.

Pup is survived by his mother and father of Northern Kentucky. He was their only child. Formal services will be held in his family's hometown, he was cremated.

ABW will hold a Celebration of Life for Pup on Saturday, April 26 12:30pm till 1:30pm. Services will be officiated by Judy Tallwing and Al Santora.

Brian's family may be in need of assistance and several people and clubs have already made generous donations. The DC Boys of Leather have volunteered to collect donations on behalf of the community and forward them on to the family.

DCBOL will be forwarding the funds on to Bryan's family weekly so there should be no delay by sending it through us.

Also, there is talk about setting up a Brian Mullikin Memorial Scholarship Fund to help boys attend and/or compete in an event such as ABW. DCBOL is working with other community members to organize this fund and as details become available, ABW will provide them. If you would also like to donate to that fund, please hold off. Once they are sure Bryan's parents are square, they will begin collecting money in his memory for this fund.

If you are in DC on Sunday April 6, the DC Boys of Leather will be holding a Bar Night at Toolshed (Upstairs of the Green Lantern) in the alley behind L St NW between 13th & 14th Sts NW. All of the proceeds from the bar night will go to Bryan's family, and we will be accepting donations there in person.
